I taste a bunch-o-wine (technical term for more than most people). So each week, I share some of my wine reviews (mostly from samples) and tasting notes in a “mini-review” format.
They are meant to be quirky, fun, and (mostly) easily-digestible reviews of (mostly) currently available wines (click here for the skinny on how to read them), so you can get right to the point and decide if they’re for you (or not). Cheers!
- 2019 Ida Agnoletti ‘Seneca’ Montello Rosso (Colli Trevigiani): Funky, chunky, gamey, and grippy in all of the right ways. $NA A-
- NV Sandeman Founder’s Reserve Ruby Port (Portugal): Classic, rich and sultry (if not overly complex). $25 B
- 2013 Weingut Brundlmayer Langenloiser Alte Reben Gruner Veltliner (Kamptal): Still an insanely fresh and spicy sipper! $NA A-
- 2021 Treana Cabernet Sauvignon (Paso Robles): Pretty darned tasty. And even more darned jammy. $30 B+
- 2023 Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast): An affable collection of Meyer lemon, honeysuckle, peach, apricot, cream, and light spices. $28 B+
- 2021 Domaine Anderson Dach Vineyard Chardonnay (Anderson Valley): Tangerine, peaches, yellow apples, Jasmine, lemon peel… Hot damn, it’s just hard to argue against this…! $55 A-
- 2020 Clos de los Siete by Michel Rolland (Vista Flores): Fruity AF, with a silky palate and plenty of leather and violets to keep things interesting. $25 B+
- 2021 Domaine Bousquet Gaia Cabernet Franc (Gualtallary): Spicy, plummy, herbal and (as always) thoroughly delightful. $18 B+
- 2021 Domaine Bousquet ‘Ameri’ Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Gualtallary): Quite mineral, and quite dark. Would be twice the price if it said “Napa Valley” on the label… $36 A-
- 2023 Los Cerros de San Juan ‘Familie Lahusen’ Riesling (Uruguay): Heavy on the limes, heavy on the flowers, and heavy on the refreshment. $NA B+
