A pair of old barrels are gradually becoming part of the stone architecture in Saint-Romain, the small village in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune region. Tucked up a side valley, Saint-Romain is known for its nervy whites and lean reds thanks to its cooler, shaded vineyards. However, it is perhaps best known for being the home of the famous Tonnellerie François Frères. This barrel-maker is among the most sought-after (and expensive) producers in the world.
