Vinography Images: Eyeing the Weather

Winemakers around the Northern Hemisphere are on a heightened state of alert when it comes to the weather as harvest begins or approaches. Rain, excessive heat, frost, and increasingly fire can all threaten a year’s meticulous work. Over the next 8 weeks, for instance, the vast majority of fruit will be harvested in California. Speaking of eyeing the weather, here’s a view of WeatherEye vineyard in Washington’s Red Mountain AVA, showing the main road that rises to the top of the vineyard site, planted with vines as well as lavender and other Mediterranean herbs.
