Grapevines, depending on both variety and vine health, turn bright colors in the autumn before their leaves drop off and the vines go into dormancy for the winter. Some of the most vivid colors I’ve seen have been in vineyards in Chile’s Maule Valley, such as this one. A mix of País and other grape varieties, these leaves positively glowed in the misty morning when I visited.
