I taste a bunch-o-wine (technical term for more than most people). So each week, I share some of my wine reviews (mostly from samples) and tasting notes in a “mini-review” format.

They are meant to be quirky, fun, and (mostly) easily-digestible reviews of (mostly) currently available wines (click here for the skinny on how to read them), so you can get right to the point and decide if they’re for you (or not). Cheers!

• 2022 Perelada ‘Stars’ ‘Touch of Rose’ Brut (Cava): A spicy, floral, red-berry and apples quartet playing an accessible and classy tune. $NA B+
• 2022 Perelada ‘Stars’ Reserva Brut Nature (Cava): Cava fans will be seeing stars with this fruity, fresh, and floral sipper. $17 B+
• 2023 Perelada ‘Nomes’ Garnatxa Blanca (Emporda): Perfumed, tropical, and even a bit grassy, this one is full of juicy pears just begging for a bite. $20 B+
• 2023 Perelada ‘Obsequi de l’Emporda’ (Emporda): A vibrant gift that lives up to its easy-going moniker. $NA B+
• 2022 Perelada ‘Amfitrio de l’Emporda’, Emporda): A host that likes to make spicy, entertaining commentary. $NA B+
• 2019 Rodrigue Molyneaux Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (Livermore Valley): Dark and juicy, focused and powerful… it means business! $55 A-
• 2023 Troon Vineyard Druid’s Fluid Pink (Applegate Valley): Funky and floral, taking its time to open up into all of its vivacity. $25 B+
• 2022 Appassionata Uber Sauvignon (Willamette Valley): A whole lotta elegant, understand, citric and floral goodness. $40 A-
• 2024 Familia Traversa ‘Traversa’ Sauvignon Blanc (Montevideo): Good pick for those who like their SB round around the edges. $16 B
• 2023 Vina Progreso Overground Viognier (Progreso): Stone fruit action that’s long and strong. $NA B+
