I taste a bunch-o-wine (technical term for more than most people). So each week, I share some of my wine reviews (mostly from samples) and tasting notes in a “mini-review” format.

They are meant to be quirky, fun, and (mostly) easily-digestible reviews of (mostly) currently available wines (click here for the skinny on how to read them), so you can get right to the point and decide if they’re for you (or not). Cheers!

• NV Voga Prosecco (Veneto): Get crackin’, because the partaaay has officially arrived. $16 B
• NV Voga Still Prosecco (Veneto): Overachiever here. Bright tangerine and white flower action that won’t quit. $15 B+
• 2020 Tenuta Cucco Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba (Piedmont): Long finish, lots of dried rose petal, some wood spice, leathery tannins, stewed red fruits, and plenty of grip! $67 A-
• 2020 Tenuta Cucco ‘Cerrati’ (Barolo): They love the old school approach, don’t they? Tangy, stewed red fruits, baking spices, and mouth-puckering structure, along with mouth-watering acidity. $80 A-
• 2022 Quinta de Roriz Prazo de Roriz (Douro): Pleasant, juicy and spicy—which is exactly what it should be. $19 B+
• Sandeman 20 Year Old Tawny Porto (Portugal): The very definition of a suave, smooth criminal. As always. $65 A-
• 2023 Darioush Signature Viognier (Napa Valley): Large and in charge. Tons of white flowers and ripe apricot. Stone fruits, and intense juiciness. $60 A-
• 2021 Darioush Signature Series Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley): Bold, spicy, rich. Blackcurrant liqueur, black cherries, cedar, and an intense grippy behind all of that plush fruit (so be patient…). $125 A
• 2023 L’Ecole No. 41 Semillon (Columbia Valley): Toasty, rich, appealing, & definitely punching above its weight class in a fit display of kiwi, melon and pie crust. $18 B+
• 2021 L’Ecole No. 41 Estate Merlot (Walla Walla Valley): Plush and dark, yes, but with a great focused core so save your hate. $42 A-
