I taste a bunch-o-wine (technical term for more than most people). So each week, I share some of my wine reviews (mostly from samples) and tasting notes in a “mini-review” format.
They are meant to be quirky, fun, and (mostly) easily-digestible reviews of (mostly) currently available wines (click here for the skinny on how to read them), so you can get right to the point and decide if they’re for you (or not). Cheers!
- NV Tycoon V.S.O.P. Luxury Cognac (France): Caramel, earth, dried fruits, and a sense excellent and powerful refinement for all you players out there. $65 A-
- NV Jack Rabbit Hill Farm ‘CIRCO’ Sparkling Rose (America): Nigh-irresistible perkiness tailor-made for spicier fare. $NA B+
- 2023 Loew Vineyards ‘Beloved’ (Mt. Airy): Welcome to MD, where the future of Pinot Blanc is as as bright as this white is refreshing… Now, where are the blue crabs… $23 B+
- 2012 Bridges Wine Co Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast): Earthy, with lots of tea, dried flowers, dried blueberries, dark plums, and slight sense of immortality. $NA B+
- 2021 Goosecross Cellars Tempranillo (Napa Valley): Sour black cherry, anise, tobacco, licorice, black pepper, & dried violets in a smooth and spicy mixture. $57 A-
- 2021 L’Ecole No. 41 Seven Hills Vineyard Syrah (Walla Walla Valley): Big, peppery, and pushing it with those dark fruits (but not pushing it too too far). $42 A-
- 2021 L’Ecole No. 41 Pepper Bridge Vineyard ‘Apogee’ (Walla Walla Valley): Graphite out the yaya! Dried herbs, succulent dark fruits, & tons of structure in those leathery, gritty tannins. $60 A-
- 2021 L’Ecole No. 41 Perigee Seven Hills Vineyard (Walla Walla Valley): Everything is dark here, apart from how its future looks in the cellar. $60 A-
- 2020 Tonoike Shuzo ‘Bo’ Omachi Junmai Daiginjo Nama Sake (Japan): Wow. Fuji apple, peach blossom, grapefruit, tropical notes. This thing is serious about its fruity nature. $47 A-
