Caro Maurer MW is the newly appointed Regional Chair for Germany at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2025, complementing her ongoing role as Regional Chair for the Southern & Eastern Mediterranean. A prominent German wine writer and educator, Caro divides her time between her work at General-Anzeiger, the daily newspaper in Bonn, and Der Feinschmecker, a leading food and wine magazine.

With over 30 years of experience, Caro has held various high-profile positions, including correspondent roles in New York and Los Angeles, senior editor for the German edition of Forbes magazine, and editor at Die Welt. In 2011, she achieved the Master of Wine title, becoming the first woman from the German-speaking world to do so.

In addition to her writing, Caro is a dedicated wine educator and an active judge at international wine competitions, bringing extensive insight and expertise to the industry.
