I taste a bunch-o-wine (technical term for more than most people). So each week, I share some of my wine reviews (mostly from samples) and tasting notes in a “mini-review” format.

They are meant to be quirky, fun, and (mostly) easily-digestible reviews of (mostly) currently available wines (click here for the skinny on how to read them), so you can get right to the point and decide if they’re for you (or not). Cheers!

• NV Villa Sandi Il Fresco Prosecco Rose (Veneto): Juicy, fresh, and above all else, fun. $16 B
• 2022 Domaine Bousquet ‘Danaus’ Red (Costers del Segre): A red-fruited party in a glass right here. $15 B
• 2021 Casa Ferreirinha ‘Papa Figos’ Tinto (Douro): Lots of dark red fruit, even more spices, and even more more leather. $19 B+
• 2023 Mathis Rose de Grenache (Sonoma Valley): Bright, well made, approachable, and elegant. So, a win. $25 B+
• NV Domaine Carneros by Taittinger Cuvée de la Pompadour Brut Rosé (Napa Valley): A metric ton of fascinating red raspberry goodness. $50 A-
• 2021 Rio Grande Vineyards & Winery Viognier (New Mexico): Floral, tropical, perfumed, and carrying its heft with aplomb. $NA B+
• 2021 Rio Grande Vineyards & Winery Gewurztraminer (New Mexico): Lychee action that’s both heady and viscous. $NA B
• 2022 Rio Grande Vineyards & Winery Albarino (New Mexico): A tale of two halves—the aroma half is reserved and polite, the mouthfeel half is banging and electric. $NA B+
• 2021 Rio Grande Vineyards & Winery ‘Desert Nights’ Rose (New Mexico): It’s nigh impossible not to like this bright, easy-going, red cherry delight. $NA B
• 2021 Rio Grande Vineyards & Winery Tannat (New Mexico): Deeeeep, daaaark, spiiiicy… From the tobacco, to the acidity, to the sour cherry fruit, it’s all dialed up in this one. $NA B+
