Vinography Images: Jaunty Vines

Notions of terroir keep us thinking about a vine’s relationship to the earth, and we imagine its roots questing into the soil and stone below. But a vine’s most important relationship is with the sky, its source of sustenance. As I walked through this beautiful vineyard in the Hawke’s Bay region of New Zealand’s North Island, I was struck not only by the beautiful evening light, but also how the (clearly very happy) vines mirrored the wispy skies above.
